A lovely rural retreat for those seeking a peaceful holiday in beautiful countryside.

Location

Burton In Lonsdale, Ingleton 3 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 5 miles.

The pretty village of Burton in Lonsdale is tucked into the hillside above the lovely River Greta. Its impressive 19th Century church spire is visible from miles around and evidence of Burton Castle can still be seen nearby. In the 18th and 19th Centuries, the village was renowned for its 13 potteries, which formed a vital part of local life. Two potteries, which welcome visitors, still continue the tradition in the nearby villages of Bentham and Ingleton. Burton in Lonsdale offers a shop with a post office counter, and also a welcoming pub. There are several ‘undiscovered’ quiet walks around the village and more popular walks such as the Three Peaks and Ingleton Waterfalls Walk within easy reach. Places of interest close by include Kirkby Lonsdale, Ingleton and Settle, while this is also an ideal base for exploring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.

Just back from a great week in Woodland Lodge with our dogs Coney & Echo. The dogs loved the enclosed garden to run about and play and made some new friends too. The cottage was very comfortable , relaxing and cosy. Made to feel very welcome by Ann from the word go and the welcome of wine & cake was very thoughtful. Lots to do in this area and lots of walks for the dogs, very relaxing enjoyable week. Thanks Anne

Just wanted to add our thanks to Anne for such a relaxing “away from it all” weekend in September. The hurly burly of everyday life just melted away as we drove down that wonderful long tree-lined drive to Woodland Lodge. Can’t recommend the place enough for just chilling in the most gorgeous setting. Like everyone else we will be back!

We had a wonderful week in this cottage. Ann has made it cosy and welcoming and the extra touches were very welcome…milk, cake, tea, coffee, eggs, wine etc. Our dogs really enjoyed the large grounds and the river. This is a great base to explore the Yorkshire Dales and villages and also Cumbria. We enjoyed it so much that we have already booked for next year. Many thanks Ann. Liz. John, Brock and Jas. Xx

We’ve just come back from a 3 night/4 day stay at woodland river cottages in the lodge. We took our 3 dogs who absolutely loved the grounds/large great garden right on the doorstep. Anne went above and beyond with her hospitality and made our stay personal by decorating the lodge with a banner, balloons and bought a cake and card for my partners birthday which was fab. The place is peaceful and quaint and everything’s within close proximity for activities- including ingleton waterfalls. We really enjoyed our time here (dogs miss it already) and we’re looking at coming back and have recommended to family already.
Thanks again Anne. An extra special thanks from Max the pug, Pepsi and Ollie x

we stayed here valentines weekend my wife and i, our grandson Reece and Nellie and Millie our black Labradors, it was great a really clean and cosy lodge well fitted out with everything you need the free wifi was a nice added bonus we had a lovely welcome with fresh milk in the fridge chocolate short breads and tea and coffee, there was also a stuffed toy dog on Reece’s bed which he slept with every night the grassed area and river were great for the dogs and it was nice for Reece to be able to play fetch with the dogs right outside the property also putting out the seeds and nuts and sitting in the conservatory waiting for the birds and greedy squirrels was a lovely way to bring the days to a close we all had a great weekend and i think Reece and the dogs would come back every weekend which says so much about the great time we had
thanks to Anne for those little touches that made our weekend that little bit more special we will return at some point in the future
Mark, Denise, Reece, Nellie and Millie
